Information on Moderate Learning Difficulties

I have an 8yr old boy whom has recently been diagnosed with having Moderate Generalised Learning Difficulties.

Im really struggling to find information on the internet,and im wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Ive recently found out that the school has been aware of the extent of his problems since he was 5yrs but have only just shared this with me.

Id really appreciate some advice on where to get some information and other peoples experiences with this.

Exactly what it means will depend on who diagnosed it and where in the world you live! In the UK a child with medically defined mild learning disabilities may be classes as having moderate learning disabilities within the education system. In the past IQ was used to help define learning disabilities, and learning disabilities were defined as an IQ below 70, mild between 50 or 55 (depending on where you are) and 70, to give you an idea.
I have an 8 year old with moderate/severe learning disabilities and asd, but have no expert knowledge. I have been aware he has LD from early on (but was ignored!)but it has become more apparent as the gap between ds and nt children is growing with time. It must be very hard for you if you have only just been told.
