DS1 has put his head through a window AGAIN

Upstairs one this time.

Never got anywhere with the DFG because SS wanted to put in perspex rather than secondary double glazing, and I think pespex will cause as many problems as it solves.

I dream of the day when we can afford to put in decent double glazing.

Do you mean as in he broke the glass? Did he hurt himself?

magso · 09/02/2008 16:37

Presume DS1 is unhurt?
Can you use triplex for repacement pane? We used a cheap perspex secondary sheet but it rattled and squeaked in the wind (leaky old windows), and ds room was the first to get posh double glazing.

Yes we can replace with decent glass - it's not legal at the moment anyway- but it's 200 odd quid a pane and ds2's bedroom (where its broken) has 6 panes.

DS1s room has decent double glazing.

I am going to try and do a deal with SS that we'll forget making the stairs safe and ds1's room safer in exchange for secondary double glazing upstairs and downstairs at the front.

He's fine- although was trying to 'clean' away the break with a flannel so I've covered in cardboard.

He has a hard head apparently. That's 2 broken windows with no effect. Perhaps it could be a party trick

Oh no, not again. Maybe SS will be a bit more accommodating this time.

magso · 09/02/2008 16:52

At least he is OK!

daisy5678 · 09/02/2008 19:39

SS should do both for you! Or all three even! Sod making a deal - they should do it all!

bullet123 · 09/02/2008 19:51

Oh dear . I'm pleased he's not hurt, but it's still very worrying .

aefondkiss · 09/02/2008 22:15

oh Yurt, I hope you can make ss see sense... is there anyone else who could fight for you? it just seems so unreasonable that you have to deal with all this and try and convince ss to meet what seems like such basic need.

TheodoresMummy · 09/02/2008 23:20

Maybe this is a really stupid idea, but...

...would the press be interested in your situation ?

He did it once, SS have done bugger all, then it happens again..!!!

(bet SS would sort it out sharpish )

TotalChaos · 09/02/2008 23:21

oh god not a fun saturday for you then. glad that DS1 was unscathed.

macwoozy · 09/02/2008 23:51

Blimey, what does it take for them to do something!

yurt1 · 10/02/2008 08:48

I don't think SS have been obstructive as such. OK they took a year to work through the request but that's pretty standard for anything to do with SS. We just haven't agreed on the final offer. I will ring the OT tomorrow. The problem with working full time now is that I really don't have time to chase everyone who needs chasing.

I'd never do press with ds1, although I have been quoted anonymously before

glad he's ok yurt.

yurt1 · 10/02/2008 21:54

Thanks tibni. Found him whacking the glass (the next pane along) with the flat palm of his hand today- if that does though it will be messy..... I screamed. Which was stupid as it probably just reinforced him.
