DESPERATELY NEED MACLAREN MAJOR special needs buggy

Hi
new to here and searching for a maclaren major or major elite in good nick for my daughter. she is 4 and a half and outgrown her buggy but has lots of probs and cannot walk far. We have been told we do not qualify for NHS help, as she can walk some ( not enough for the regular trips into london to gt ormond street thoo!!!!)and new these are £200-£300. ones on ebay still go for loads and i'm on income support and struggling like most!
ANY HELP to find one OR SUGGESTION of where they may be available discounted etc would be very very welcome.
Thanks

I think this would be the most suitable buggy as i will need to use it alone, have a dodgy back and shoulder and will need to be able to get on and off the tubes with dd when going into london on our 180mile round trips to GOS!

Hi sox364, did you see my message on previous major thread? I have one I am selling for about £50, which is in good condition except for a missing footplate, which can be ordered through maclaren.

Your 180 mile round trip to GOS, is that north or south of London? If south then I might be able to deliver it to you as I am in Kent.

hi
that sounds good! but i would need a footplate for her, she complains terribly when legs dangle!!
i had just spotted another one which also needs a part which i'm waiting for an email back about so can i get back to you asap?
i live in essex but right across on the coast so its still a fair way from kent. there are couriers that are reasonable i know but depends on the size of the item. Thank you so much for getting back to me; £50 would be fab! any idea what the footplate costs? i'll have a search around just as soon as dd gets off from around my neck!
thanks again!

Hi Sox, I have been given a number for a mail order company which does Major spares, but they are engaged and I have to go to work soon. You could perhaps phone them on 01628 773993 and see if they are any cheaper.

Just a thought, I am going to suffolk early this evening to collect something I brought off Ebay and should be able to call to you on my way there or back with out going too far out of my way.

I won't be calling home after work and if your interested then you can call me on 077 two 59 one 2 seven seven seven anytime.

Did you find out about the other one?
Thanks.

Update: Just managed to get through to the company I mentioned above and apparently they don't do Major parts, even though I was given their number by Maclaren as they don't sell direct to the public

SUPPORTMAN....you are a star.THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I am now the proud pusher of a decent buggy that my daughter now fits into, no more scrunched up legs whingeing and moaning. It'll do her a treat , fits into the car and i can fold and lift it pretty easily.

I have a missing footplate (rest)if anyone has one of those i'd be most interested in buying!
Or any other accessories?

I have my faith in human kindness restored 100%

What lovely members you have here.

sox364 · 06/02/2008 23:48

its good to know you're home safely!

Extremely pleased

and so is my little monster who had woken and screamed the whole time i was out!! but soon stopped when she saw the buggy! tested it out around the living room and she's now back in bed and should be asleep soon (i hope!)

Thanks again and if there's something i could do to return kindness, u have my number

Yeah made it home just before 2300, must appologise again for the hassle of finding me though and for arriving later than I thought I would, reminds me of when I sold a gearbox to somone on Ebay and arranged to meet them at Chessingtons as I was going there and they went into the other car park and it all got confused. Got there in the end though.

Pleased that she likes it and fits into it nicely, good that I found a new home for it.

Hi Sox - try Fledglings. They'll be able to source you a new footplate (or any other Major accessories) with the minimum amount of fuss. Prob cheaper too as they are able to bulk buy

Hi does anyone have a cheapish maclaren major elite buggy for sale as my daughter who is 9 struggles on days out and whinges coz of tired legs :-( which makes daytrips hard work . Thank u for ur help x

ouryve · 03/07/2013 17:04

The first one we got was an ebay bargain. It's always worth a look out.

We don't use ours much, any more, but do need it when DS2 is poorly, as he loses muscle tone and we can't get DS1 to school, otherwise. It also went a bit mouldy in the garage over the winter. Unheated garages and crumbs don't mix well!

Unless your DD is quite petite, you might find that she's getting a bit big for one, anyhow. They have small wheels and are quite difficult to push on anything other than flat ground. You might find a wheelchair a bit easier.
