So long story short I have after my second application been awarded DLA high care rate for my son who's 5 awaiting autism
Diagnosis,

Few worries

  1. I forgot to photocopy the form sent; can I ring DLA for a copy of it sent to me?
  2. new evidence.. ir I have no new evidence when renewal is due on 2 years or little new evidence can I still send the old evidence?

We have just moved Hm schools and his new school thinks he's wonderful and don't see as many traits. But when he comes home he explodes and follows Al the typical traits. I don't want to get use to having hai DLA to give him what he needs and then in two years time it stop because of lack of ne evidence. I am hoping we will have a diagnosis bu then. But the I worry if that comes back as he isn't autistic having to appeal that and that affecting my renewal.

Such a stress every 2 years not sure why they don't just have it for longer period. Are DLA usually kinda for renewals than a new application?

You can ask DWP for a copy of the form.

If you don’t have any new evidence you can send the old evidence. Depending on what that evidence is will depend on how much weight is given to it vs how old it is.

DWP give awards of various lengths depending on how they perceive the likelihood of needs changing. A 5 year old awaiting an assessment who has just moved school is unlikely to get a long award.

Thank you, they don't know he has just moved schools as i put the application In in July before I moved them end of October.
Hopefully we will have a diagnosis by then, I will just keep all my letters for appointments etc. his old school did me a fantastic letter with all his autistic traits listed,so hopefully this will help us in reapplying.

Even having not just moved schools, a 5y/o awaiting assessment is unlikely to get a long award because long term needs aren’t likely to be known with any certainty. DLA is based on needs rather than diagnosis but the assessment will demonstrate needs and provide evidence.
