Anyone got any experience of claiming DLA for a baby/young child.

My daughter (turns 3 in January ) has just been awarded highest rate DLA, we applied in July was awarded two weeks ago now !

We got the higher rate of DLA when my daughter was about two. I don't remember how long it took but I got one call from DWP during the process asking about her nighttime care needs and that was it. We noticed the money in the bank before we got the letter.

Now waiting on the mobility component, which I will probably chase today.

I applied for my daughter just before she was 3 and was awarded HRC until she’s 5 When my son was 16month applied for Scottish disability benefit same rules as DLA but Scottish version and he was awarded HRC until he’s 5. They will do check when 3 for the mobility part only as he was too young to be eligible for that part.

@Polly421 was your son awarded no problem? My little boy is 14 months so stressing!

I was worried more applying for my son as he was younger but we sent all the evidence we had and he was awarded without any issue.
