Background;
I applied for a bagde for son, he has a serious heart condition(requires open heart surgery), he has a mobility car through the family fund as he is not able to have one yet through DWP due to his age.
He is suspected ASD(I am sure he is due to his behaviours, I've applied for dla for him which I'm currently waiting back from) he is non verbal is going speech therapy, awaiting portage. I give them a lot of evidence that he is unable to walk long distance due to his heart condition as hes out of breath, walks on tip toes and trips over all the time. Has no awareness of his surrounds and does not understand NOTHING. I.e no/danger. He bites and has extreme sensory issues. Even today visiting speech therapy he was heaving(thought he was going to make himself sick) due to the stress and anxiety he was under. Going shopping is a no go unless my parents have him as he becomes hysterical. He has medication which he needs to take twice a day, due to his eating(asd/texture/heart condition) I carry it with me at all times as it needs to be taken after food, if he does not have the medication he will have heart failure.
I got refused and I appealed the decision, they have told me that if I cannot provide more evidence he will be seen by an occupational therapist? Can anyone shed any light of what they'll do?
I am at my wits end as I am unable to do most things due to my son being overwhelmed with day to day. I feel the badge would help him and give him less stress as I can remove him from the stress/situation sooner. When he starts having his overloads(it's what I call them) I walk as fast as possible to the car, once in the car and I start driving he calms down as hes removed from the situation. Having to be able to park closer would help him loads.
Has anyone had similar experience?
