Hi I don’t no if this is the right place but just wondering how long it’s taken other people to get an award they told me it’s. A 16 weeeks wait which will be 16 weeks this Monday 17th of July from march 27th when they received my form back I rang yesterday and it’s still not even with a decision maker or case manager I’m worried with how long it’s taking weather I’m going to get declined for dla for my son because everyone else I no they’re decision only took 13-14 weeks and was awarded dla, my son has daily struggles with breathing is on 3 different inhalers has to have round the clock care and supervision as his breathing deteriorated quickly resulting in him requiring a lot of hospital admitions for oxygen he also has had pneumonia 4 times and he is only 12 months old and has had at least 30-40 hospital admissions due to his chest he now required daily and nightly inhalers which I have to administer 11 times in the day and 4 times throughout the night so I have to wake up at all hours because he is constantly struggling and coughing most nights I can’t go back to sleep coz his breathing is horrendous he is also sick through the night and day and brings up thick green phlem constantly too because his chest is full of mucus just wondering if anyone else has been awarded dla for breathing problems as this 16 week wait is driving me mad wondering if he is or isn’t entitled to it 🤞

Hi @Emma2345 we got DLA awarded last week after a 16 week wait - for autism though, not breathing problems so can't comment on that specifically. Fingers crossed for you, it does seem to be taking absolutely ages right now.

Emma2345 · 12/07/2023 14:45

Ok Thankyou so much for your reply yeah the 16 weeks wait is so worrying so I’m glad to no someone else has been waiting as long and has been awarded it.

Relaxinghammock · 12/07/2023 14:51

Taking longer isn’t an indication that DLA won’t be awarded.

Emma2345 · 12/07/2023 15:06

@Relaxinghammock ok Thankyou, I just assumed it may of been with it still not even being with a case manager or
decision maker and Monday is 16 weeks & everyone else I no who has applied has had a decision sooner & been awarded but this is for asd and things never really knew I could get it for his breathing until his consultant told me apply for it so I’m glad to no that time frame doesn’t make a difference in the decision

Emma2345 · 14/07/2023 13:08
