My sons award ends in November and I sent off the renewal. It wasn’t as long as the first claim form and said give “brief” description of each question but I tried to be as detailed as possible and clear about the level of care he needs. I wrote about how he needs significantly more supervision than his peers his age, how his refusal to walk is NOT bad behaviour or a choice on his part it is due to sensory overload because of his ASD, I wrote in extra information a few recent examples of what happens if he is not closely supervised at all times, and wrote about the level of care he needs during the night , the medication he is on for severe stool withholding causes leakage and we must check several times in the night because if he has soiled himself any and we don’t get to it first he smears it, it’s a sensory issue for him. I also wrote he is in a pull up at night but that doesn’t mean we can just leave it as he would get sore if left in it. I included his recently updated statement and report from Ed Psych and OT, both saying that support must be in place throughout the day to ensure his safety. I hope I have included enough detail and if what I wrote is OK. He currently gets middle rate care low rate mobility
