Hi all
Im just wondering if any one else has constant trouble trying to get there childrens meds or if it is just my crap luck?

Some examples, my sons doc at the hospital says what drugs he wants us to have he is a grate doctor always returns phone calls and my son really likes him, but it is my gp who dose the prescriptions ....
My ds had one of his meds doses rasied abit from 2 per day to 4 the doctors office said they never received this letter so I took in my copy (with there address as a foreword on it) they coped it and supposedly put it on the system the next month tried to get the pills it was back down to the old dose had to wate an hour for them to sort it and agen same thing the next month till I lost my cool in the waiting room now they seem to have fixed that,
For the past year I have also been asking for it on a reepeet perception to which I have been toled they wont /cant do this as one of them is a controled substance,
So every month I had to write it down as the docs resepitonests tolled me, im dislexic I hate writing my hand writing is awful and my conference worse ,so every month I had a battle getting the reseptionest to write it for me,
The on reepet andoc at the hospital says they can put them d to say he said they can and shockingly suddenly they have,
This month I went down to get the prescription happily knowing it wood have the reepet attached to it ,
But its never that symple is it?
I looked at it one of his pills was missing from the list and one of them was the generic form and not the brand name one ....ok I know its supposed to be the same ingredient but when my ds had the generic one b4 it was bad he had massive mood swings and rages his doc at the hospital said it was probably due to the pills and tolet us only to get the brand one, and wrote a letter out stating this.
Any ways the resepionest called the gp and he said just tell the chemist that i need the brand name one not the generic.

This was just after school had my 3 kids with me and chemists was full of mums from the school, I asked the chemist and she went and got the boss who said very very loudly "I CANT CHANGE THAT IT IS A CONTROLED SUBSTANCE IM NOT GOING TO PRISON FOR YOU"
And then she stomped off, she didn't say what the meds wear and I noticed all the mums stopped talking and wear staring at me so now they probably think im an ex smack head mother of 3 on methadone or something , im not but that's probably in there minds as none of them said hello or made eye contact with me scince then that was on Tuesday.
Also as the chemist made this comment infrount of ds I had to bribe him to take his pills as he got it in to his head that they wear illegal and he wood go to prison.
In the end I went back to the doc's close to tears and sat there with the kids till they changed it,
Dose any one else find it a constant struggle to get there kids meds or is it just me?
I hope u can read this by the way I did try to spell check lol ,

NO wonder you're fed up.

I would make formal complaint to drs if I was you. One incident on it's own is annoying, but the fact that it is every time.

I would be fuming at the chemist - surely you weren't asking her to change the medication, just make sure you had a certain brand of it?

What a horrible, unprofessional chemist!! I don't have any advice but I am giving you a big hug. If you want to write a letter to this chemist complaining about his terrible behaviour, I will write it for you as that's one way I could help? You just tell me what to say, and I'll write it. You could copy it to the GP so they know the difficulties you are having. I don't have these problems, but I do find that where the NHS and other public services are involved, there is laziness, incompetence and just sheer inefficiency. It shocks me, because when I worked in the private sector you would lose your job if you were incompetent - of course the same isn't true in these kind of public sectors. Anyway, my heart goes out to you - you have enough on your plate without these imbeciles failing to get the most basic parts of their job right!

hi agen ,
armadillodaman i wasnt asking her to change anything just if she could give me the perticula brand, i said that i had checked with doc and they said it wasnt a problem, and said how my ds had reacted badly to the generic one, that was her reply b4 she stomped off.

thank you for the hug,
i didnt get the ladys name but she was suposedly incharge, i woodnt know what to write in a letter i always seem to loose words when im stressed, but maybe it wood be a good idea, i wish i was a more confordent person the type that could have replyed something smart just as loudly as she said it,but as she stomped of i just walked out with tears in my eyes, god im crap sometimes lol
it was a hard enough choise putting my ds on meds but it has been amzing for him in the past year he has finaly made his fist friend at 9! learned to read and write, tie his shoes and other simple things that shuld happen easly in childhood, but still the guild of giving him up to 10 pills a day sometimes gets to me, and the facat i feel like a criminal trying to get them dose not help,

I would be fuming with the chemist then and would put in a serious complaint about her - that is awful.

IF you want help with letters of complaint you could type it on here and get someone to correct it for you. Copy and paste into Word or similar and print off.

I do stuff like that for my sis (who is dyslexic among other stuff).

You are not crap, you're a mum with 3 kids and one has special needs. Only us other SEN mums know how hard and tiring that is - the chemist certainly didn't or she would acted like a kinder, more decent person.
