CAMHS appointment

Hi

I'm just wondering what happens in your child's initial appointment with CAMHS? I believe we are heading down an ADHD/ASD pathway but he has alot of other needs. His OCD and anxiety are sky high.

I'm asking because I dont expect much to happen his first appointment BUT I'm in the process of an MR for DLA. I'm 4 weeks in and called today to be told they are waiting to hear what the outcome of his CAMHS appointment is. Surely it will be very limited after only one appointment? Also how can 2 hours with CAMHS determine how much care and support he gets at home

The nature of first appointments varies area to area. Some are short assessment type appointments to ensure you are on the right pathway, others are more in depth.

Depending on your area the first appointment may well cover care and mobility needs.
