My daughter is nearly 2 but I am encouraging her to walk on school runs as she loves the freedom and I also have a baby due in May.

Her left arm is amputated below the elbow and we have never bothered with prosthetics? (Sp?) as she has never needed one.

Its just that she falls over as young kids do and has ended up with quite a few head bangs as she cant support her fall.

I wondered if anyone knows if it would be worth trying a prosthetic arm simply for walking. I dont even know if she would use one but I worry she is getting battered and bruised and I dont want to discourage her walking as she loves the freedom.

Hi Horsehoe, no experience of this, but there is a busy American forum called Limbdifferences.org herewith members from many countries in the world and parents with children with and without prosthetics, so if you don't get an answer her, you might there! The link is to the hme page and the forum is called 'Connections'.

Can you ask to have an appointment with the whoever deals with prosthetics? (in our area it is the rehabilitation centre, referrals from our connsultant). You could seek some general advice from them?
