Draft EHCP help

I received a draft EHCP for my DS who has an ASD diagnosis ready for his school start in Sept. Does anyone have any advice for what it needs to contain or what I need to add? They want me to call to accept it but I'm not sure what I'm looking for.

The LA must give you at least 15 days to respond to the draft and name your preferred placement.

All education needs should be in B and have corresponding provision in F.

Section F must be detailed, specific and quantified. If it is vague and woolly with wording such as “access to”, “would benefit from”, “regular”, “opportunities for” etc. it isn’t worth the paper it is written on and cannot be enforced.

Anything that ‘educates or trains’ should be in section F. This includes SALT and OT, which LAs often try to put G.

@LargeLegoHaul I received it Thurs 10am and they called for a reply by Fri 3pm. Definitely not enough time to read and check it (19 pages!) The language is very vague so your advice is great! Thank you :)

Don’t be pressured into rushing your response. The LA legally have to give you at least 15 days.

What are the reports like? Provision in EHCPs is taken from reports, so if they are vague and woolly section F will be too. If this is the case ask the LA to go back to the report writers to make them detailed, specific and quantified.

As well as IPSEA, SOSSEN are helpful and they offer a draft checking service at reasonable price if that’s something you are interested in.
