Hi you’ll have to bare with me as I’m new to all this.
so four weeks ago I claimed for dla for my autistic son
i rang today as I had a random amount paid into my account so rang to see if it was his dla, and it was he has been awarded highest rate care (so happy) but she said he hasn’t qualified for any motorbilty she couldn’t tell me the reasons why as the system was down
which has shocked me a little he can barley walk a few minutes before he gets overwhelmed and starts seriously hurting himself or sometimes me or he’ll just want carried the whole way after walking a few steps his feet turn really far in so if he does randomly walk for a bit longer he gets achey also lots of other reasons.
what do I do? Is it just “it is what it is”

How old is DS?

HRM is from aged 3. With ASD there are 2 ways of qualifying, under the SMI criteria and under the VUW criteria. You can see the flowcharts on how decisions on those are made here. This Contact booklet is helpful too.

LRM is only from 5 and is about supervision outdoors rather than ability to walk.
