Things school haven't told me

My DS6 (ASD, very good at masking, with recent DX and no EHCP) hit a child at school yesterday.

The school didn't tell me. Do that have to tell me these things? I feel like they do.

Apparently it's been happening every day. Now I know, my son matter of factly has told me that yes, he has been hitting (and OBVIOUSLY I'm now working on home strategies to teach him it's not ok, and acceptable ways to express his feelings).

The school and I are due a meeting and discussion of his needs after an incident last week when he attacked the same child.

Perhaps they think it's reasonable to hold back until our meeting? Personally I think this is endangering other kids and not giving my DS a fair chance to stop the behaviour.

I 'd definitely want to know as well, but apparently this is normal even for NT children - at least in our school, they will not report incidences like this & will generally handle these things without parental involvement. But in your case there should be more communication - does he have a communication book?
