Ehcp failings

So it is now 20 months since I applied for ehcp and now 3 months since tribunal decided an ehcp is to be issued. Do we now have an ehcp? Nope! I'm so deflated by it all, 86 long weeks and counting. It makes parenting sen so much harder with these failings. Why are the la's a law to themselves?

Send the Director of Children’s Services this IPSEA model letter. If that still doesn’t produce an EHCP contact SOSSEN for help with a pre-action letter.

I’m sickened by it all. Each day is a struggle as it is without having to fight these ‘professionals’

It’s dreadful. We are on week 35 waiting for ours. We had a draft issued, I’ve gone back with what I think should be on it (had they actually read the reports, they would see why mainstream is unsuitable), they said they would take it ‘to panel’ and then we’ve stalled. I’m probably going to end up in tribunal. It’s so shit. I’m exhausted from dealing with my dc 24 hours a day and then having to fight all this crap too. If I thought living anywhere else would make this process easier, I’d move, but I’ve been told that although our LA is failing, it’s not even as bad as a neighbouring county, so I dread to think how bad they are.

I don’t think non send parents actually believe me when I tell them how bad the system is!

We had to use an independent advisor to get the right school place from the council. Highly recommend although it’s expensive. An expert who knows the system and has all the right contacts was invaluable. Even though I’m a teacher I was clueless as a parent.

@Cleothecat75 email the Director of Children’s Services threatening judicial review, if that doesn’t work contact SOSSEN for help with a pre-action letter.

Choose wisely if you use an advocate, they are unregulated and there are some pretty terrible ones that can do more harm than good.

@Cleothecat75 we had ours recommended by a headteacher who had never won a case against her. I’m in Warwickshire but I know she does other counties. Local knowledge is key.
