Hi
Have just applied for DLA for dd who is diagnosed with autism, has a lot of needs. I hated that form and never want to do it again haha. Just curious for those who were awarded for a 3 year old how long was it awarded for? Thanks

2 years at that age. They've got much longer as he's grown up. The next one renewed at 5 till age 12. The newest one takes him to age 16.

My daughter got a two year award hasn’t got a diagnosis of autism but awaiting an assessment. There reasoning was at the age of 5 she maybe be entitled to lower rate mobility then.

Fair enough. I know someone who got an award for about 10 years! Must be rare then and 2 is the general I guess?

My little boy who’s 21 months was awarded HRC until he’s 5 on Scottish child disability which follows the same criteria as DLA. But they will next year when he 3 they will assess the mobility for him then to see if he’s eligible for HRM and if not when he’s 5 will do full review.

Was it until 5th birthday or essentially 3 / 4 years from when your initial award was?

Yes from March 2022 until his 5th birthday for his HRC.
Letter says as he approaches his 3rd birthday a mobility part will be sent out to see if he qualifies for HRM to add to his care award. If he doesn’t qualify for HRM then when he reaches 5 they will review full award. I was only expecting his award to run until his 3rd birthday as thought they would review it all then when he’s old enough for a mobility element. He’s on the Scottish one so don’t know how the length of awards vary from DLA. My daughter gets DLA and it was for 2 years from date awarded so just before her 5th birthday. The way things are going she will probably be moved over to the Scottish one before her review next year.

My son's 10 now but he was awarded mid rate care and high rate mobility at age 3 for 13 years (i.e. until he's 16).

Daughter awarded at 4 for two years.
fucking hated that form too. Great way to highlight all the things she CANT do and makes me realise just how delayed she is.

Awarded at 3 til he was 5.
When he turned 5 his renewal was awarded for 7 years.

Dd was awarded DLA when she was 10 for 3 Years
Renewed and has been awarded for another 4 years.
