Is UC backdated if DLA is awarded

Hi,
Just curious, if DLA is awarded obviously that is backdated from when you requested the form. However if it is awarded do UC backdate to when the form was requested also? I have seen a few posts saying yes it should but not any were anyone has actually had it backdated. Seems they backdate to when the DLA was actually awarded without issue… ? But wasn’t sure on this question. Thank you :)

If you have an open claim at the time then yes the disabled element and carer’s element are backdated if you report the change within a month. If you read the DLA threads there are some on there who have received the backdated elements.

Thanks. I can only really see people saying they got it backdated to when they were awarded, not so much backdated to when the claim pack was ordered. So confusing

Ours was backdated to start date of the DLA award which was day after I requested the form. So we got 3 months worth of disability element backdated a few weeks later after we notified UC about our daughter getting her DLA award.

Hi, sorry to jump in on your thread but does the backdated amount come at the same time as your normal UC payment or was it on a separate date? thanks in advance :)

@mummytoanangel14 different date once it’s been sent to decision marker, they usually attach letter to your journal saying it’s being backdated and payment usually comes after that. You should have the element added to your next payment but backdated money you will have to wait for.
