Hi All,
My DD 21 months has been given a "soft diagnosis" based on paediatric referral of Sensory Processing Disorder.
She doesn't speak any words, wave, clap, point, hand lead etc so has no form of communication other than whinging and taking herself to places (eg stands at baby gate with cup if thirsty, reaching through baby gate if hungry etc). She doesn't follow instruction, nor do we know if she even understands what we say.
I have given her a running commentary of her life, so the whole "have you tried talking to her?" Is a pointless statement (yes I'm talking to you, Health Visitor!)
After researching the local provisions for SPD it seems she has the auditory difficulties, however there isn't much out there in the way of help, most suggestions for her "struggles" are contradicted by her other behaviours (eg she puts EVERYTHING in her mouth so we can't do certain tasks as she will just eat it)
We have been referred to the local portage team (Stockport) and she already attends Nursery full time. Does anyone know if her behaviours would qualify for the EHCP and how we go about this? Also, any suggestions for things to help her would be greatly appreciated.
She has also been referred to SLT and we've tried the whole flash card things, but again, she just eats them
