Hello,
It’s been a really stressful and very emotional year so far for us and it seems as though things are not getting any better. We have three children, two DD’s (ages 6 and 3) and one DS (aged 4). Our 4 year old DS and 6 year old DD both have a diagnosis of ASD. It’s been extremely hard for us as we are still trying to process everything concerning both DC.
DD already has an EHCP and DS is currently at the processing stages of his EHCP, his Draft EHCP is due next month. Two weeks ago the Local Authority (LA) sent an Educational Psychologist (EP) which they commissioned to come by for a home visit whereby an observation was done on DS and a discussion was had with myself and DP, regarding DS and his needs etc. She went away and said she would send over a copy of her report (which we are yet to receive) At this stage, we really don’t believe that she will even send this over to us, so we will just have to wait and see what is put in DS Draft EHCP next month.
We feel as though whatever she will put in the report conducted by her from the home visit will somehow just not play out in our favour and so, we have now decided to seek an EP for ourselves, we’ve heard that this can be quite costly but we really want to proceed as we are really are uneasy about the EP sent to us by the LA and just the whole home visitation especially as she was commissioned by the LA and we can sense just how this is going to play out.
I would be most appreciative of any recommendations for really good independent Educational Psychologists (EP).
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and for all advice given.
