EHCNA Ed Psych Assessment

Hi, we are 13 weeks into the EHCNA process for year 4 DD. They have agreed to assess but we've still not heard anything about an EP assessment, so I don't think it's now possible to meet the 20 week deadline to finalise.

I queried the EHCP coordinator and she said we are on the LA waiting list and that school are trying to commission an EP on behalf of the LA, I'm presuming a private one?

Surely if there is no LA EP available it is up to the LA not the school to appoint a private one?

Is there anything we can do or is it just yet another waiting game?

It's absolutely up to the LA. IPSEA has lots of help with this for you.

Anyone approached for advice during the EHCNA must respond within 6 weeks. If the LA cannot do this in house they must commission independent assessments. You do not need to sit on the normal waiting list.

Write to the Director of Children’s services pointing out the above, that they will breach the statutory timescales and threaten Judicial Review.

Have the LA sought all the other advice?

The other advice has been fine, it's just the Ed Psych

Wrote to the Director of Childrens Services threatening Judicial Review a week and a half ago and not even had the courtesy of a reply.

The EHCP Coordinator just says that as the LA core team are unable to carry out all assessments themselves they have asked schools to source their own.

School have tried but the earliest they can find is October/November.

I guess I will have to carry out the threat!
