Looking for advice my son is on the waiting list to be assessed and the last few weeks he has been getting worse with sensory issues and meltdowns. Tonight has been the worst he has a fear of insects and he seen a bit of fluff from the carpet on the floor and started screaming there’s bugs on the floor I’m scared like histerical crying and screaming he refused to walk on the floor and was fixated on watching the floor for bugs. I tried to take him upstairs to his room with his brother to play and calm down and he is just not settling he’s sitting on his bed doing the same thing and won’t play.

Does this sound like his sensory issues or something else ? It’s been really stressful today seeing him so upset. I tried to explain that we need bugs for the birds and other animals to eat and that they aren’t scary. Does anyone have any tips for calming him down in these situations? Would a weighted blanket or anything help? Thanks for any advice x
