Carers Allowance 2022

I've recently applied for carers allowance and still haven't heard anything back. Can anyone let me know how long theirs have taken to get sorted out please. So I can get a rough idea on how long the waiting process is.

It tells you when you apply it can take upto 12 weeks for a decision. I applied in Feb and still waiting

Oh wow, I thought they only said that so they can cover themselves to stop people calling. Can you let me know when you hear from them please I applied end of March so I'm looking at a long wait! And do you know if it would get backdated?

Yeah sure I will let you know when mines is sorted and yeah you get it all backdated! Hopefully mines won't be too much longer now

Hi, just to let you know I checked my account today and got a payment going in from carers allowance.

Just realised you already said you applied at the end of March! Thats strange you've had yours before me, I applied on the 21st of Feb

Have you tried calling them?

Not a for a few weeks. I'll give it until the end of next week and give them a call

Currently on hold to carers allowance and have been for the last 33 minutes, feel like just giving up! Clearlt they have skipped Feb's applications and went straight onto March

Hey! No I gave up after over an hour. I'll just wait for the letter I think

Just spoke with them and no decision yet. She said to give it another couple of weeks

I applied 31st March and had a letter 4th May saying they were looking at my claim now.
Don't know how much longer it will be though.
Hope no one else is waiting too much longer :)

@Emzi89 thats strange, they wouldnt normally send out letters to tell you they are looking at your claim, only once a decision is made

@Canyouanswermyquestion is it? I assumed it was normal 🤷‍♀️
It just said about me stating I care for my son 35hours or more a week and that they are entitled to and lists different benefits.
I'm slightly worried now.... 😟 🤔

@Emzi89 hiya my mum got a letter a few days after I applied Saying 'miss xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx has applied for carers allowance for you as they we caring for you 35 hours a week, please tell us if this is not correct'

So I think it's just an automated letter but as it's for your son, I'm guessing you received the letter instead of your son so I wouldn't worry.

I applied 1 and a half weeks ago, so I guessing I'm in for a long way too.

Hi can anyone help please I received a letter on Thursday saying I can have carers allowance and when I rang they said a decision has been made I was just wondering after you receive that when do you get the payment
