Does it ever get better?

After yet another horrendous morning of my dd 9 not wanting to get ready for school and screaming shouting and crying I've nearly reached the end of my tether. We have another 6/7 years of this. I'm dreading the future, puberty, secondary school, her future life etc. can anyone give me hope that things will get better ??

Why doesn't she want to go to school?

@lollipoprainbow

Something is clearly wrong here and school is not meeting her needs. Have you spoken to the SENCO?

I have a close friend who is clearly undiagnosed ADHD. By all accounts she was a nightmare child, constantly in trouble, meltdowns, school exclusions etc. She is now the nicest adult you could possibly meet, literally the best, and is so close to her parents. So yes, I think for some it does get easier. It may take a while though.

I am in a similar situation with my dd. It’s very hard some days.

Does your dd have a EHCP?

We have applied for one and just waiting for further support as it’s not fair for her to be so distressed every day. Do the school make reasonable adjustments? If not, you could ask.
