Liv I hope your ds enjoys his play and you get to watch it and I hope dd isn’t sick for too much longer x

Thanks Light and hope alls well Liv! X

danni0509 · 26/05/2022 14:20

I was just watching rishi sunak. If you get DLA for your child you get a one off payment of £150 in September towards the cost of living.

Other amounts too if you get other benefits etc.

Least we get £400 off our gas / electric come autumn, dh was in the kitchen with his phone torch the other night searching for something in his work bag, I said wtf are you doing in the dark? He said I’m sick of you moaning about having all the lights on!🤣🤣🤣🤣

That's good danni.

So proud of ds he was brilliant! It was so lovely to see how they involved the whole school

SusanStoHelitsPoker · 26/05/2022 15:27

Thanks for the info @danni0509
Aww @livpotter I'm so glad it went well, how lovely!
I went to my book club actually in person last night, which was lovely, and even held my friend's 9 week old, what an odd experience, I don't mean this awfully but I was v glad to give him back!!🤣🤣

dimples76 · 26/05/2022 18:22

Ah that's lovely Liv.

Can't imagine why the Government have chosen now to announce this extra money!

Light to be fair to my neighbours the ones on the other side are lovely and are v tolerant of DS's interrogations over the garden fence. He climbs to the top of his slide so that he can see them whilst they relax in the garden (they don't have kids)

We have an outdoor concert at school tomorrow. DS has been singing around the house, our current fave is Shakira - I won't give up.

openupmyeagereyes · 26/05/2022 20:17

Aw liv, so glad it went well.

Susan so no more on the cards for you then… Grin

Ds woke at 5:55 today, a rare miracle. Despite that he’s been a bit highly strung and wasn’t at school long.

SusanStoHelitsPoker · 26/05/2022 22:14

@dimples76 I have visions of your DS just sitting on his slide looking thoughtfully at them as they just read the paper 🤣
@openupmyeagereyes ahahahahahaha...no!!🤣

dimples76 · 26/05/2022 23:26

You have pictured it well Susan! Although there are a lot of questions too: NDN what are you doing, what are you drinking/reading/eating, where is DH/DW? Can I come and see your stairs? etc. DS has a staircase obsession but I would have to agree that next doors staircase is a thing of beauty. We don't go around much but when we do I always get jealous as their house has been extended and modernised and I think how much better my house could be if I had any money. I have been watching 'Sort out your life' on iplayer and I am determined to declutter and repaint at least the downstairs of my house this summer.

livpotter · 27/05/2022 09:05

Brilliant dimples!

What was your book club book Susan?

Hope school goes better today open.

It half term for both of mine today. Feels like they've Barely been in this year!

carriebradshawwithlessshoes · 27/05/2022 10:00

Just on route to south Devon… 6.5 hours drive, DS snotty and grouchy, streaming cold.

anyone see a mad woman swigging gin from the bottle on the m1 and you know who….

keep up your stories I’m loving reading!

dimples76 · 27/05/2022 10:12

Good luck Carrie

Thinking about DS's obsessions I have just booked a cathedral tower/bell-ringing experience for DS. Spiral stairs and church bells - heaven for DS. I am so excited to tell him but it's not until the end of July so unless I want to be asked a million times before then when we're going I need to keep quiet.

LightTripper · 27/05/2022 10:21

I love Sort out your Life @dimples76 , such great TV! I love that they find houses that are a bit extreme but still relatable. It's quite inspiring - just need to find some time and guts to really do a big clear out!! I really hope DS's concert goes well today - fingers crossed the weather stays good. Love a bit of Shakira!

And great that your DS's concert was so good @livpotter !!

LightTripper · 27/05/2022 10:22

Oh wow and good luck with the drive @carriebradshawwithlessshoes ! We are driving to Wales for the Jubilee BH weekend and I'm wondering if that's the definition of insanity (particularly the Sunday night drive back into London is bound to be horrific...)

carriebradshawwithlessshoes · 27/05/2022 10:58

Ha ha I’m sure will be lovely light! We will be back by then although I do often think a 6 plus hour drive is insanity but it’s an area we know and like v much

We do the same dimples he boxes my head in otherwise, we do morning of now which textbook shouldn’t work with an asd kid but that’s what we do.

He counts days down until Halloween from February etc. can’t be doing with eleventy billion questions if I don’t have too!

Ds has broken up today, he’s just got home.

He had a jubilee party at school and they said he had a really good day.

dimples76 · 27/05/2022 16:03

Glad that DS had a good day Danni. The adoption therapist asked what she could do to help prep for our first session with DS and emailed me photos of her and the building. She was clearly shocked when I told her that I would just tell him about our appointment on the morning of it. But I find the anxiety/excitement just ramps up with notice. It went fine so I hopefully she will see that sometimes I get it right.

Good luck with the drives. When we had a long drive at Easter it almost broke me.

Light I bet my house is closer to the extreme than yours. Progress so far on operation declutter 1 kitchen cupboard. I think I might need to up my game.

We just got back from DS's Jubilee concert. DS managed well - he started off strong singing and actions but by the end he had his fingers in his mouth. He definitely enjoyed cake afterwards though.

LightTripper · 27/05/2022 22:31

LOL I bet it's not Dimples! I've got a massive basket of junk on the kitchen table, piles of kids artwork on top of the cabinet and in piles underneath, various piles of table mats, tablecloths, an ant house, overflowing shelves of colouring books, two stands of laundry drying, kids school bags, OH's bike stuff, and various other junk just in my eye line right now (and some clean laundry on my lap while I type as there was nowhere else to put it Grin) When I'm through this next phase of work in a few weeks I'm going to really try to have a proper go at it all before the kids break up...

danni0509 · 28/05/2022 07:43

Ds had his first dose of sertraline this morning. (Had to wait for it to be made up and collected yesterday)

Fortunately I read online (chemist never told me this!) to mix meds in 3oz of orange juice or lemonade as the liquid has an anaesthetic taste on the tounge and throat for 24 hours if not diluted, he has it once a day so he’d have a permanently numb tounge / throat, not good! That would of deffo put him off.

So he had his smoothie with atomoxetine in followed by an orange juice with sertraline.

He knows it’s in there and was happy to drink it.

So hopefully he’s ok, no side affects, and it starts to work etc.

OP posts:
dimples76 · 28/05/2022 17:26

Okay Light sounds similar although DS told me earlier 'the stairs are a tip' - this was because there was so much stuff downstairs that needed to be upstairs.

That sounds positive Danni

openupmyeagereyes · 29/05/2022 07:01

danni I hope no side effects on the meds.

Our main source of clutter is ds’ toys. He hates getting rid of anything and has far too much stuff.

SusanStoHelitsPoker · 29/05/2022 10:31

Hope the meds are going well @danni0509 and that you're having a nice break @carriebradshawwithlessshoes
I try to keep the house as clutter free and tidy as possible otherwise it exacerbates DS' need to touch everything etc!! And I don't really want ironed clothes chucked about etc, and if I tell him not to do something like that he often does it more, so I just put stuff away for a quiet life! Unfortunately that means the deep cleaning tends to get missed. I used to have a cleaner pre covid which was bliss but I can't find one now and can't really justify or afford it now I'm part time!! I will make myself mop the bathrooms later!!
Book club book was The Lamplighters, which was good and we all enjoyed it, so bookclub was a bit quiet on the book as not much to say! Just finished Conversations With Friends, which was just perfect, although now I feel like I'll never be a published writer as how could anything I wrote sound anything but naff compared to that??
DH and I had a rare date night last night, went for a meal and dome drinks, and this time DS was actually asleep when we got back! Madness! We are going to a farm later so will see how that goes!
Not many plans here for half term but we are going camping next weekend, just bought DS a travel magnetic game set as he has just got really into chess (meaning I'm also having to play it but still, it keeps him occupied) so hoping that might go down well. We will be missing the craziness of the jubilee too!

carriebradshawwithlessshoes · 29/05/2022 14:46

Aaaaargh! Anyone else’s kids always sick oh hols?? DS been getting worse, just really poorly so ended up in Torquay out of hours! Ear and chest infection. Usual antibiotics…. 😫😫😫😫
