Moving school with statement

Hi all,

I thought that I should start a separate thread about this as it got rather lost at the end of another thread!

My DS (ASD) has a full time statement and is v miserable at school. We have decided to move him and are going to look at a promising local ms school next week.

I'm unsure though how easy it will be to persuade the LEA to name the new school on his statement.

Givemesleep suggested that I will need to request an Interim Review (the annual review is not due until July).

Has anyone else been through this process? Is so, did you gather any special evidence to support your request for a different school or was it enough to say your DC was v unhappy?

And finally....does anyone know whether there is a minimum time limit a statement has to be in place before you can change the school? I am a bit worried about this as one site I looked at suggested the child has to be in the named school for 12 months before it can be changed.

Thanks

DCT

I think the statement has to have been in place for 6 months

or it's

you can not request a change to a statement that has been changed in the last 6 months(or put in the request)

clear as mud?

sorry i'm not much use x
