Hi
New to this.

I have a 2 and 3 year old boys. My 3 year old is non verbal and 2 year old partly verbal.
Speech and language want to wait a year with my youngest to see if his speech improves on its own. And I was wondering how I organise private speech therapy. I am in Durham area.

Hi,

You can search for a private salt in your area here.

Have a look at www.speechclub.com. Pre-recorded speech therapy lessons for toddlers - I so hope it helps you.

Do DC have EHCPs? If so, SALT can be included in section F without the need to sit on the normal waiting list. If the NHS can’t or won’t provide it the LA must commission independent provision. If DC don’t have EHCPs you should apply.

My son has meeting next week for his ehcp application for school.

As part of the EHCNA you need to ask for a SALT assessment.

Yes he has seen speech and language. I just don't feel they have the time or availability to offer him what he needs

There can be more provision via the EHCP though.

You may still need another assessment depending on if the report was written for use in the EHCP and how long ago the assessment was.
