Hi fellow mums,

I hope you all are well. I have a 5 year old son who is autistic, non verbal with high sensory needs. Does anyone here has first hand experience of Forest Bridge they can share? Or visited the school may be? I need to name a school for his EHCP and looking into suitable options. I would highly appreciate your help! Many thanks

My daughter goes there and we are really happy with it. She is also non verbal.
It is an ABA school.

Can’t fault it. Staff are wonderful. Firm and stick to their beliefs, methods and values so go round and see it and if that’s not for you or you want to tweak things they won’t. Our daughter has made great progress. They have OT and S&L in house. They are supportive and really get to understand the children. We love it and are very happy with the school.

Hi can anyone please tell me how their child has progressed at this school and how long you have been here (what the improvements are with your child)

thank you

my Daughter went from using a pecs book when given to her. She now uses an iPad and will bring you the iPad, navigate her way round it to ask you for what she wants. She also has some words. Can identify pictures and numbers, more sociable, can undress herself, brush teeth, do shoes, follow a number of instructions. She’s come on leaps and bounds.

Thank you so much for your view on forest bridge. Can I please ask …
so if I name the school within the EHCP (as my son attends a special school ) would it be likely the outcome would be a tribunal? As I’m wishing to move schools?

Lolly2803 · 09/06/2023 19:48

Depends if the school has space, waiting list, the LA approves it, school can meet needs etc. not necessarily a tribunal. Depends…have you spoken to Forest Bridge?

Rie101 · 10/06/2023 19:26

Yes I do have a visit booked to the school next week. I also wondered about transport as my son currently receives this at current school.
I work full time so just wondering- I have his EHCP next week so now would be the time to move.

Thank you for being so kind and helping

x

Lolly2803 · 10/06/2023 22:30

Transport as you know is down to the local authority so isn’t actually anything to do with the school. It’s all about how far away from the school you are. We have transport but we are 19 miles away.

Lolly2803 · 10/06/2023 22:30

You also may find that Forest Bridge has a waiting list. I’m almost certain it’s full and it does so lots of things to explore.

Looking2Move · 11/06/2023 19:31

Hi Rie101 are you visiting on Wed 14th? I am also visiting. Although we are quite far away..

Rie101 · 11/06/2023 22:34

Thank you for supporting me with the very helpful review I really appreciate it.

Rie101 · 11/06/2023 22:50

Hi looking to move,

how far away are you ?
Yes I’m going to view on 14th ;)
what year group is your child?

Looking2Move · 12/06/2023 07:32

49 miles! But we don't have any decent provision where we are (Enfield).
My son is nearly 10. What about you ?

Rie101 · 12/06/2023 23:16

Hi my child is 7. We are about 20 miles away.
All schools at the moment seem to be at full capacity which is worrying .

Looking2Move · 13/06/2023 07:07

Yes it really is worrying. I'm finding the school search very stressful indeed...

Lolly2803 · 21/06/2023 22:07

What did you all think? How did it go?

Marieinsalaco · 22/06/2023 06:15

Hi thank you for asking how it went .
There were lots of parents that attended and the school is over subscribed and already have 178 in their waiting list.
I think most schools are facing a higher number of children which need to be placed so schools are already PAN across all year groups.

Really enjoyed the visit. Found the Head really refreshing and forward thinking. If only they had more schools! I drove an hour to see it. Much better than any other ABA school I have viewed. So gutted about the waiting list. Is it even worth consulting?

Lolly2803 · 22/06/2023 12:55

Can’t hurt to go on the waiting list. I’m glad you liked it, it is an amazing school

Looking2Move · 30/10/2023 12:47

Thanks Lolly2803

We have put the school down to consult with. Let's hope he gets a place, there is a space and our LA agree. Challenging times ahead, as if we as families don't live with enough challenges ! Hey ho..

Marieinsalaco · 30/10/2023 16:52

Good luck let’s us know how you get on x
