Hi

We asked for our DS to be assessed back in May, Cahms have referred us over to Psicon.

We have completed the initial questionnaire and have just received the second set of questions 7months later.

How long did you wait from the second questionnaire to being seen?

Thanks

We were seen and got a diagnosis by psicon last year. From the first referral in to The system to the final report was 4 months, so extremely quick. I think we hit the waiting list just as the local trust were outsourcing a lot of cases as I’ve got friends who have had to wait over a year for the same thing.

Wow that is so quick!
Thank you for your reply :)
They told me that their wait time was about 18 months when I emailed then very soon after that the second lot of questions came through.

For us, from initial referral to camhs then diagnosis from pscion it was two years. The longest part of that was waiting on camhs. Once they outsourced assessment to Pscion it was 6 months from first appointment to diagnosis.

Hi, just picking up as DD has been referred to Psicon via CAMS after almost 3 yr wait. Concerned about 2 part assessment and can’t find anything about Psicon. Concerned about whether they are appropriate for high functioning teen girls given the little info/questionnaires which don’t seem to be relevant. Any feedback welcome please. Don’t want to further damage my DD prospects. Just to quickly get a quart over zoom with a paediatrician I can’t access info on. Many thanks. Wld welcome any advice please. Thks.

They did an hour assessment with two speech and language therapists then fed back to the paediatrician who we had an hour zoom with. They picked up on loads of stuff we didn’t even notice they where very good.
Our Ds took 10 months to be diagnosed from start to finish.

Our DD was assessed by Psicon following referral from local CAMHS. She was 7 at assessment and a 'high functioning' pro masker. (Sorry, I don't like the term high functioning as although she is academic, she and we know what the masking costs her in terms of home life and 'functioning').
The SALT assessment was done in person with 2 staff- one to lead and one to observe I think. I was not invited in the room for it. It was about an hour and they were really nice. The second part was done via zoom with a psychiatrist who we were told specialises in diagnosis of girls. She talked to DD first and then talked to us. She told us then and there that the report would be saying autism and that she anticipated further assessment and/or treatment would be necessary down the line for anxiety as this is common with girls that mask. From referral to CAMHS to them passing DD to Psicon was about a year, and then a further year until assessment and another 2 1/2 months waiting on the formal report to come through.
We were concerned they wouldn't see what we see as she masks so well and is always desperate to please professionals but they picked up on things we hadn't. Good luck x

Hi guys, My son was referred to Psicon 2yrs ago, he's had his first appointment with the SALT team, she said I would get a copy of the results from this but I've not received anything yet and it was done 5/8/23 so nearly 3 weeks ago, do I need to chase them up? We have his Teams appt on the 3rd Sept so wanted to see what they have before that?

Flizabet · 24/08/2023 13:58

We didn't get any feedback from SALT until we had the online session with the psych. She gave us the feedback from the SALT assessment at the same time as taking the full history and doing her assessment, and then told us the diagnosis at the end of the meeting
