Has anybody managed to get an adhd diagnosis without school agreeing?
Recently had this happen as school have said he's fine but said he does sensory circuits every morning, has the handing out books job, constantly swings on chair and talks kits, has chewy bracelet, wobble cushion.

Hiya, I am just going through something similar with my dd7 and school. She definitely has adhd (as do I) and I haven spoken to the school and they said they're not overly concerned. I personally think there is a lack of education going on with the different types of ADHD. We both have inattentive, with symptoms that may not stand out in a class of 30. She does have a wobble chair and is SO disorganised but beyond that they have said nothing flags up. They don't see the sensory issues with clothes and shoes (pair 3 since the beginning of this academic year), the meltdowns when asked to do the simplest tasks, the lashing out etc etc. What I'm getting at is that what the school see is only a very small percentage of your child as he is most likely masking all day. You can still go for diagnosis without them, although if he has a wobble chair etc then that is defo something for them to comment on. Good luck xx

School had nothing to do with our diagnosis, if you are concerned go to the doctor and ask for a referral to a pediatrician. ADHD is a clinical diagnosis, school can’t diagnose it any more than they could diagnose a chest infection or anything else.

In my son’s case school were pretty open that they didn’t have the skills to say one way or another.

Good luck x

Can you go private?

My sons teacher didn’t see it (inactive) but he struggles to sit on a chair …. The teacher thought he preferred standing haha.
