Had an interesting experience with two delivery drivers yesterday, i have been teaching my ds (deaf 11 yrs old) about not opening the door if he doesnt know who's there!
Yesterday two men delivered my new washing machine. They rang the bell, the lights flashed to tell my son there was someone there and he went and opened the door grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!
The two guys said "hello we've brought the washing machine" I responded that i would be right with them and shut the door on them, and then had a signed rant at my son about not opening the door, then reopened the door and explained to the men what my ds had done. They looked a little surprised and couldnt get the machine in fast enough and get out.

I think its important that he realises about safety etc and will continue to drum it into him. Whether the delivery men will return is up for debate!!

They were probably worried you were going to sign rant at them next People always find things they don't understand scary. But good for you for following through on what you are teaching your son. I think that's a big thing to bear in mind as a parent whatever your child's needs - be consistent. Of course if this washer breaks you are doomed......
