Toilet troubles-9yr old

Our 9 year old is undiagnosed so far but we’re 90% sure he’ll be autistic/adhd/somewhere on the spectrum. It’s getting clearer as he gets older.
He’s been toilet trained for a good number of years now but recently he’s stopped wiping when he poos.
He started just being really half hearted with wiping & has now given it up altogether.
He’ll also lie & say he’s only had a wee.

He’s really averse to getting his hand dirty generally or getting anything on them, so I get he’d have a sensory aversion to it. He also has bad skin so spends a lot of his time slathered in creams etc. He gets upset if any of this does get into his hands.

We don’t know what to do? We’ve talked to him numerous times & explained. I’ve told him he’ll get sore & infected if he doesn’t clean up properly. But he still doesn’t do it. We can’t police every toilet visit.

Anyone been through similar? Does anyone have any advice?

It could be sensory, he might not like the feel of the paper? Could you try using toilet wipes and see if that makes any difference for him. It might not but definitely worth a go. If that fails you might have to introduce washing after using the bathroom.

If you have a few hundred quid to spare there are Japanese bidet toilets that do the washing for you.

I'm seconding posh toilet roll/wipes. The other thing that might help is some kind of visual reminder eg instructions on the wall (with pictures). We have one for hand washing and I think it helps (slightly) with compliance.

My youngest son has autism and PDA and he hates toilet paper but will wipe with wipes or even damp wet kitchen roll. 😊

I might do that @orinocosfavoritecake if I did. Probably look a bit odd in my rather shabby looking bathroom though 🤣
