just wanted to update you about my little girl who has cp and cannot see. Last week we found out through obtaining my notes she was resuscitated at birth (and this was an emergency caesarean!)and was in foeatal distress for hours. They never told us.So of course she doesn't have delayed visual maturation but is cerebally visually impaied and most probably very cognitively impaied too. Fortunately we have an appt with GOSH's develoment vision team this week and they are looking at her second MRI scan. We ahve just been fed a pack of lies by our local hospital- including as she is showing signs of cp so eraly it must have happened in my pregancy!! They must think we were born yesterday. We have now started litigation proceedings. It's just like a nightmare which keeps getting worse- what hurts the most is that they have robbed her of her life and all the dreams and aspirations I had for her. Sorry this is not very cheery but wanted to update you all-you have all been so kind xx

I'm so sorry to hear this. Get a lawyer who has dealt with this sort of thing, it will be a long haul.
I cant remember how old your dd is but anything they tell you about physical or mental ability in the first year is pants. Its impossible to make predictions about physical impairment until about 2, and cognitive until 5 (especailly if the physical impairment is severe with added visual issues because the tests require hand and eye function)
I've always believed my dd was bright even though she had infantile spasms and every single doc told me she would be cognitvely impaired. Its not been until this year that she has managed to prove to others that she is bright, using switches and computer technology. She's approaching 4.

Nothing useful to say but just to send you best wishes and virtual vibes of support for this really stressful time.

I am so sorry about all this. I wish you the best with your appointment at GOS.

You're in my thoughts....

that is unbelievably bad of the hospital, they deserve every bit of legal action you throw at them!I used to be in PR, so I can highly recommend threatening them with legal action and also the press (local and national). But make that threat carefully, as you need them to take action to avoid you getting their names in the press, but once you have shot your bolt and actually talked to the press, the threat no longer works. No hospital wants this kind of bad press though, so you have a powerful weapon in your armoury. Tell them you have a pal in PR, which you do - me!
