ASC recommendations for private assessment

I was wondering whether anyone could recommend any organisations where we could seek an ASC assessment for my ds?

In brief, he is 13 and recently asked to be assessed for autism. We dont know whether he definitely has autism but he is very traity and def does suffer from anxiety.

Given his age I dont think a two year wait for diagnosis would be helpful (when is it ever!) so have resigned ourselves to paying for a private assessment, although we'd like it to follow the NHS criteria for diagnosis so it would be accepted should he be diagnosed. Does anyone have any recommendations as to where we could go?

You could ask your GP who s/he would refer to and ask if they take private patients and if you can self-refer. (e.g. One clinic in my area takes NHS and private patients but the private ones need a referral from their GP, they don't accept a parental referral )

That way fulfilling the NHS criteria shouldn't be a problem.

Otherwise say which county you're in or which areas you'd be happy to travel to for more recommendations from other posters.

We are in Sheffield. I already have 1 recommendation for a clinic in Colchester and I'd go there if necessary. So I guess that means I'd travel anywhere within 200 miles of Sheffield (so not south of London and not in the SW).

As far as I am aware there is 1 clinic in Sheffield that deals with diagnosis and they only do work on the nhs (waiting list at around 2 years) but it's a good idea and I will check.
