Normal baby behaviour or something else?

Hello!

My little one is 5 months next week but was born 2 weeks early.

I am a FTM so unsure what is normal behaviour and what is not normal behaviour!

She's meeting all physical milestones (only rolled from front to back a few times though).

She's not giggling yet though! We get big smiles when we go to get her from her bassinet but when playing on play mat she's just so mute! We get some eye contact while playing but she also keeps looking around at everything in her environment. We get more eye contact when putting her on bed and put toys away and just sing to her and she smiles and gives eye contact. She follows objects with eyes and follows us with her eyes if leave them room and most of the time smiles when we come back. She has made a few cooing sounds but not often.

I'm just worried about how quiet she is! She just plays with her toys but is mostly mute! It this normal for a nearly 5 month old?

We try and get her to giggle and we managed a few small teeny tiny giggles. Probably about 2 this week.

She's a great sleeper. Sleeps through the night, EBM in morning when she wakes at 6:30 then wants to go straight back to sleep and wakes around 9am.

I wish they came with a manual as I just don't know what's normal childhood development and what's not!

If your worried you can ask your health visitor

@kmmxt1 Hi there! My baby is fine now. She was late to laugh (7 months) and on the latter side to babble (8.5 months) but since then she has been fine. She babbles a lot, has a few words, can point, wave, blow kisses, make animal sounds etc! I no longer have any concerns. Must have just been a quiet baby!

Hi! No concerns now. She’s probably even ahead of her peers now. Says 3-4 wire sentences, can sing songs, very interactive and smiley/laughs etc. Must just have been absorbing everything when younger!
