Hi all

I just wondered for those that have applied in August if you’ve yet got an update on your claim? It’s approaching almost 8 weeks now since ours was received. Do you get a letter or text to notify you of the outcome? We received a letter to confirm our claim had been received.

Many thanks 😊

I applied mid July, and heard back last week. Just over eight weeks.

Sunshine4446 · 28/09/2021 11:56

Thank you that’s helpful to know, so may be closer to 10 weeks at this rate? Did you get a letter with the outcome?

I keep reading that a lot of people get refused, I’m really not sure whether our claim will be successful. My daughter has a diagnosis of dyspraxia, hypermobility & anxiety. I included her paediatrician report, OT & physio reports so there is the supporting information but I didn’t involve the school as whilst she’s on the SEN register she doesn’t get that much help.

Hi 👋 DLA got my forms end of July, it will be nine weeks tomorrow. Hoping to hear back soon, like you I had a letter confirming they had got the application but I also got a letter on the 15th of September saying "sorry its taking so long and they will try to get to it as soon as they can"
Fingers crossed its not a long wait for us both now! X

Hiya, they received my claim on the 26th of July, phoned up today and found out they had made a decision yesterday to award my son DLA. Hope that helps.

kinglass2016 · 03/10/2021 11:08

DLA received my forms 31st of July. I got a letter 2 weeks ago saying they had not reached a decision yet. I’m thinking we will be rejected as been on the waiting list for CAMHS since March so did not have much evidence to send.

Starseeking · 06/10/2021 13:14

I received a letter today saying they are sorry they have not given me a decision yet as they are still reviewing my application for my DD, and they will get back to me "soon".

Today is exactly 8 weeks since I submitted the application, 21 August, and their letter was dated exactly one week ago, 29 September (so they sent it at 7 weeks).

If I haven't heard by Monday, I will call them on the number at the top of the letter.

*11 August

kinglass2016 · 06/10/2021 13:41

I called today as that has been 9/nearly 10 weeks and was told no decision has been made yet due to the backlog and can take up to 12 weeks.

Sunshine4446 · 11/10/2021 11:07

Thanks for all your replies. I rang today to get an update and they are currently dealing with claims received 4th August so decision is roughly between 10-12 weeks for those currently waiting.

For those who are mentioning when your claim was received; were you notified that they'd received it? I sent an amendment form (not first claim, just need to add mobility), over a week ago. I sent it recorded so I know it got to the building but I don't know if it's been actually registered yet.

Sunshine4446 · 11/10/2021 14:37

@OhWifey Yes I got a letter about three weeks after sending off my claim form, on the letter they will confirm the date they received it which is when your claim is valid from.

OP posts:
Starseeking · 11/10/2021 18:45

@OhWifey Yes, I received a letter saying date of receipt was 12 August (despite my Royal Mail delivery confirmation saying 11 August; I posted next day signed for on 10 August), so they must count from the day it reaches the right place in their department for processing.

OhWifey · 11/10/2021 22:40

Thank you both

ASDmummy2019 · 20/10/2021 17:25

Hi just wondering if anyone has heard back yet? I’m a few weeks behind you so just trying to gage timescales. Just received my latter today to say “sorry we’ve not made a decision yet”
Thank you xxx

Sunshine4446 · 20/10/2021 17:49

@ASDmummy2019 I got a text Saturday to say the claim had been awarded, the letter hasn’t come yet but the payment was in my account today so that bit is quick!!

Starseeking · 27/10/2021 07:45

I've received a payment into my bank account today, which is 11 weeks to the day of submission of all the forms.

No idea what it is for, as I haven't had the letter yet, but just from dividing the numbers, it looks like it could be higher rate care only, and nothing for mobility. I'll wait for the letter to arrive, then decide what to do from there.

Ajkir88 · 28/10/2021 14:08

Hi, just thought I would drop a message.
I sent my letter off on the 27 Aug.
Got a text on the 6 Sep to say they have my forms(was delivered on the 30 Aug)
Received a letter on the 20th Oct to say sorry it’s taking so long.
Called on the Monday 25th Oct they said they was working on claims dated 23rd Aug.
Hopefully I should hear by next week as I’m only a week off.
Hopes this help ppl x

ASDmummy2019 · 28/10/2021 17:38

Hi, I called them this morning our application was received by them on 26th August and they made a decision on 26th October. Unfortunately we’re having to do a mandatory reconsideration but it might be worth ringing tomorrow for anyone around those dates xx

BanginChoons · 30/10/2021 21:47

Can anyone tell me please whether claims are backdated to the date you applied? Or do they just pay from the decision date? Thanks

Starseeking · 31/10/2021 23:56

My payment goes back to the day I rang for the forms @BanginChoons, so I actually received 16 weeks back payment all in one go. I expect the payments will move to every 4 weeks now.
