My DS is four and in the middle of asd assessments and is still in nappies (not the issue). At night times he has a set routine but lately he's changed it himself to sitting on the toilet having a wee and forcing himself to poo. If he doesn't poo (even the tiniest bit) he'll have a meltdown and refuse to sleep.
Two questions really.
Is it usual for routines to change/ be added to (on his terms) after months of him having to do it a certain way? And this forcing to poo, is it going to hurt him? (Hemorrhoids etc...)
