Should I defer school place

My son is due to start school in September and I have been told by a solicitor that I can still defer his school place for a year. He is not a summer born child and my only worry is that the school could potentially place him straight to year 1. Has anyone done this? Was this a good choice for you or not?

As DS is not summer born you can't defer for the whole year, only until the term after DS turns 5 when he reaches compulsory school age. The exception to this would be if you get the need for an out of chronological year place written in to the EHCP, which at this stage is unlikely.
