Hi, my son had a diagnosis of autism with pda years ago.
He’s now 11 and still acts and thinks like a toddler 90% the other 10% is repeating what adults/older kids say so comes across as more grown up.

Is this usual for autism? I’m an autistic adult and I’m struggling to figure this out.
Could it be something else or is it his autism?

Sounds familiar to me, my son is 10 and described as 'very mature' by his teacher but most of the time at home he behaves much younger, plus we get 'playground chat' repeated over and over which at the moment is difficult because they are doing sex education at school.

Yes sounds very typical to me.

Ds is 7.5, acts / behaves like he’s 2 years old most of the time but then does the exact same repeating things he’s heard and I look twice sometimes as he sounds SO grown up with some of his one liners.

Thank you, it’s strange isn’t it, like they’re sometimes 2 and sometimes 14!
