communication symbols

Please can one or several of you mn's advise me on a site for symbols for a friends son aged three with delayed development. Ideally she needs picture symbols for things like shop, swings, bath, bed, school, tea. Any help and advice gratefully received! Thanks in anticipation.

you can buy a whole PECs pack with these symbols, or have you tried googleart, which I think you get to by going on normal google, and then there is button to get through to the picture section

I've just tried goodle myself - press the IMAGES tab, then enter "swing" or whatever and you come up with loads of printable pix

has she checked with him that he can understand symbols or does he need photos?

i agree aquariusmum. I was going to suggest the do2learn site to, and am off to bookmark the others. alternatively sometimes job lots of PECs are very cheap on ebay.

and select the trial button for a 30 day trial version of boardmaker, fill in your details and spend the next month furiously printing off symbols.....and they dont ask you to buy it once the trial is finished

joggero thanks, these are really useful links, my ds has pecs, we got from learning support teacher but I find them a bit limited.

can anyone help me find a pecs symbol or similar for a car please!!

Have found it now thanks!! The really annoying thing is that the shop sign says "mall" because its american! any suggestions? All i can think of is to download large signs of the supermarkets which is fine with Tescos but not for Solar which is the local CO OP that they use!

Just to say that i took my friends little boy his book of symbols and pictures today and he was very excited, i put his name on the front with pictures of things he likes(buses, pocoyo, horrid henry) and we laminated everything. he loved it straightaway and asked to take it to bed with him!! So all in all a great success thats to all who helped me to make the book possible!!
