PGL Trip - Sickness

Hello, I am not sure if I am posting this in the right area. My 11 year old daughter is autistic and is currently not attending school due to severe anxiety. This absence is being authorised by the school via a GP note. When we had to start paying for the PGL trip my daughter was still in school, but due to covid it was cancelled twice and therefore will be taking place next month. Given she is unable to attend due to disability and ill health does anyone know whether the school are insured and can refund the cost of the trip. I understand it isn't the schools fault and don't want them to be out of pocket but given my previous dealings with them I wouldn't put it past them claiming back the cost and "absorbing' it into the kitty rather than offering to refund it. I am going to contact them and ask but just wanted to gauge other parents opinions first. Thank you in advance.

I don’t know anything about the school side. Hopefully someone will be along soon to give you school advice.

But I do know that PGL have various burseries. None I can think of for this very specific situation but the fact that they have them at all means they may be able to sort something. So if the school have no luck with their insurance then I would request that they contact PGL and see if they can do anything.

Thank you. Worth a try. It is just such a lot of money. x

In general, the school should return the money, less the deposit. If they manage to get another child to fill the place then they should refund the deposit as well.
