Hello,
My DS is nearly 8 - asd/adhd & dyslexia. He has a NT older brother and before we can start looking at secondary for him I want to try and sort DS2.
He's currently in a mainstream prep with 20hrs a week of support via ehcp. Nearly all support is via small groups. He's a happy, bright, popular little boy.
I went to look at an independent dyslexia school and it's made me realise that it's probably not the right route. His dyslexia causes issues with writing and spelling but he's now successfully using an ipad for English and is actually in the top group! He's a little dyscalculaic but it's improving.
I'm now thinking that an inclusive mainstream with good SEN could be the way to go. As silly as it sounds, he feels like an outlier amongst outliers as he doesn't really fit in anywhere it seems 😔. A few mainstreams have already said no based on ehcp. So I'm going to wait for it to be reviewed this summer and reapply as he's had an amazing year with no issues at all.
So yes, please hit me with your recommendations! 🥰
