Dc is autistic
I am so stressed and exhausted
House is getting trashed
Dc is home with me each day - not in school and awaiting specialist placement
Our lives are just awful and we are struggling to get through each day

I do understand and am so sorry you are experiencing this pain. How long before the specialist placement will be sorted? Are you waiting on a specific one or waiting to find one that's suitable?

I know they are weirdly under-reactive sometimes, but have you told SS how you are feeling and your suicidal thoughts? You are important too, very important. Is there anyone else who could speak on your behalf to make your voice heard?

@Anon8104 I am so sorry you’re struggling so much, please use the links and contacts @Ellie56 has supplied above, and reach out for some help.
Do you have any family or close friends or a partner who can give you some respite for any length of time?
How old is your DC and Does he have an official diagnosis? If so are there any services that can offer respite? My son is 4 now and after he received his diagnosis at 2 I was able to apply for free nursery hours for him if this is an option for you?
Does he have an sort of support worker you can ask for advice?
If he’s trashing the house do you have a way to help him burn off that pent up energy - trampoline or going out for a long walk etc? My DS has so much energy and trashes the house quite regularly but always much less on days he’s had a lot of activity!
I’m sending you huge hugs OP I’ve felt really at the end of my tether before, things won’t always feel so bleak and I hope you get the help and support you both need soon Xxx

@Anon8104 put that back to the LA. Where is your respite! Get the send managers email address, ring around all the departments if you have too.

Write send manager an email telling them you expect a call back ASAP. Send them photos of trashed house. Tell them what you told us.

Ds has been waiting for a specialist placement which he starts next month, his old school very reluctantly kept him part time (2.5 hours a day) until the specialist placement started but it wasn’t enough for me, by the time I dropped him off I had an hour before I had to go back for him. Ridiculous.

I had to make a real fuss with the LA and threaten all sorts. They got him back up to full time until the specialist placement date.

I see he has no school at all so different circumstances, but surely something can be done!

Do you have a social worker?

Where do you live? If your in Lincolnshire I’ll help to give you a break.

Awful parents are pushed to this 😡

@Anon8104

Agree with the above - if your child is of statutory school age he is entitled to educational provision and the LA has a legal duty to provide it under Section 19 of the Education Act 1996.
