they have a show here called backyard Blitz similar to groundforce in format but recipients tens to be people who have done special things or very giving or amazing. Tonight they did the backyard of a family - made me cry.
Recently they did a garden for a little girl who had been trapped in her daycare centre when a car plowed into it - she was horribly burned and lost feet and some of her leg and in hospital for ages...THey encouraged people to raise money for local hospital burns units.....
Tonight they did the garden of a lad who had down syndrome - he was 10 ( i think) had raised $800 for our local children's hospital burns unit. He was just delightful and they did a brilliant garden for him. Mum (single parent) had to give up work to care for him and his needs - a company stepped up and donated her rent for a year and then some more money etc. They really portrayed it in a sensitive and brilliant way - he really was the most gorgeous little guy.
Picture hormonal pregnant lady crying - but it really was positive and he really was brilliant.
