My nearly 4 year old started pre school in September and her teacher mentioned that she noticed a speech delay. A referal was made to speech and language in September, but since then, her speech has developed well. By now she speaks in sentences, not all words are clear, but she doesn't stop talking! She still hasn't been seen by speech and language, we are still awaiting an assessment. She mixes well with other children and has a great imagination, she plays for hours and enjoys pretend play. But she does walk on her tiptoes, jumps when she's excited and can get upset if things don't go her way. This has made me worried that she might be autistic. She's nearly 4, she loves stories but shows no interest in letters. She can count to 20, name colours and shapes. My other 2 were much more socially developed by this age and I'm not sure what to do next... Do I mention my worries to the school or contact my GP? Do these behaviours point towards autism?
