Just wanted to know people's experiences really. Have two DC both with high needs ASD and other associated difficulties, both have an EHCP. We've finally asked for a disability social care assessment primarily to see if we can get more respite (they have occasional specialist playscheme days but not a lot). It's next Thursday and I wanted to know what to expect, anyone had this done? We could certainly do with more help (both boys are bouncing off the walls all day and night despite OT, extensive interventions etc) but I have to admit the thought of 'social services' is terrifying (only ever hear about child protection, child removal horror stories when their name gets brought up). It felt like a real low point calling them up to ask for an assessment and I could never have imagined this was the path parenting was going to take. I know this is irrational but it's how I feel ...
