I hope someone could help me out here DD is autistic but with mild learning difficulties. She was going to a mainstream school with MLD unit attached to it. Recently she was offered a place to a special school and I have accepted the place . She will go to her new school next week as schools are opening again but one thing that really makes ma upset is that there is no girls in her classroom all little boys . I have no problem with that it’s just as she is so into princesses and girly stuff I don’t know how she will find it in her new school . I am thinking to leave her for a few months in new school and if she doesn’t enjoy going there would I be able to change her back to her old school ? I am so confused as so many people say she doesn’t have to go to special school but as there was such a long waiting list for a place luckily they offered her a place.I didn’t want to regret my decision of not sending her or giving her the best chance .

Presumably your daughter has an EHCP?

Did you look at any other schools?

It's normal for the number of boys to be higher in most autism specific education units/schools as the diagnosis rate is much higher. The main focus for her school is that she is accessing education. There will be opportunities to mix with other girls in the school at breaks (although covid may restrict this just at the moment). And, you can also continue to meet with her friends from her old school once covid restrictions allow.
