Was out shopping with dd - lady came to get granddaughter playing in the same aisle. Saw dd and started chatting to her and telling her how gorgeous she was etc... she then shared with me that she had had a daughter with down syndrome who also was born with a heart defect - unfortunately in those days they could do very little about it and the lady told me her daughter died when she was 17. She then continued to speak to and coo over dd telling her she could just kiss her and cuddle her and take her home..... made me feel sad and happy at the same time.... sure beat the other one who asked if dd had a 'little bit of downs'

That is really poignant, edisvold. Bless her, that must be so hard.

awww- think I would have been in floods. People being nice always leave me in tears anyway- without the added poignancy.
