EHCP OT Assessment?

Hi

This morning I found out that our LA have agreed to DD's EHCAR.

As part of her recent autism assessment, DD was seen by SALT, clinical psychologist, and paed had input too - therefore we are ok on those report fronts.

LA said they will request EP and Social Care assessments.

Question is...
DD does have sensory needs. The Communication and Interaction Team HAVE recently completed a sensory profile; HAVE recently provided school and I with strategies based on that profile; and as a result we (at home) ARE currently, slowly, creating a daily sensory diet.

Do you think we (from the parental side) should still 'reasonably' request an OT assessment? My DD has no physical (other than sensory) difficulties. Would an OT provide more input than the sensory profile and given strategies?
(I am sure OT's are fabulous at their job, I just don't want to request if it slows the process.)

Thanks

Yes, I think you should request an OT assessment, especially since you are already supporting DD's sensory differences at home. Don't underestimate how overwhelming the sensory environment in schools can be. It is easier to get the EHCP right from the beginning than trying to request an OT assessment at a later date should you find DD needs one. You also can't be certain there aren't any hidden needs.
