Hi so ive posted before about ds and my concerns. Hes recently had two assessments with a psychologist one in the clinic and one at pre school, After having phone call with the lady who done the assesments i asked her for her thoughts and she has mentioned adhd. Ds is very hyperactive but tbh i think he is displaying a lot of autisitc traits so i was a bit suprised when she said that tbh. He's only 3 and a half and she said no diagnosis would be made that young she also mentioned sensory and communication issues too which i have had concerns about too. I guess i just wanted to hear from some parents with experience of adhd and your journey with it. My brother has been saying ds has adhd for months and he himself has been suspected of having it but never diagnosed.

ADHD doesn't tend to be diagnosed until a child is 6 or 7, as so much of the behaviour / symptoms could describe usual behaviour for toddlers.

ADHD can also (and not infrequently) exist in people with Autism too.

The fact she is talking about communication issues and sensory issues suggests they have picked up the same concerns as you and they will look further at the next assessment.

DS is 5 almost 6 and has asc diagnosis due to rigid thinking, sensory differences, social communication etc. Pretty sure he has adhd too as lately its been sparking up into full on hyper meltdowns. Best of luck in your journey!

NHS can't diagnose ADHD before 6. But frequently if ASC isn't 'obvious' then its missed. We know a few children diagnosed adhd and later ASC. Being both is high cross over.
