Hiya to all,
One of the biggest struggles I have at the moment is sleep with my little one.
He is struggling extremely lately, waking up between 3 and 5, dog tired but not able to fall back asleep unless it's by a miracle. He comes home tired from nursery and refuses and fights his nap like a pro only to pass out just before dinner time for about half an hour.
I've spoken with his paed about this but got referred to a sleep charity that doesn't even operate in our area. She doesn't want him om medication although we did try Melatonin on our own. She referred him for a sleep study but we can count on that around april or later next year.
I've had several people tell me to leave him in bed, not to get him out of bed when he's awake and to tell him it's still night and it's sleepy time. Sadly it doesn't work (I don't leave him in bed, he bangs his head everywhere and gets incredibly worked up even if I wait for 2 or 3 minutes to see if he'll calm down) I'm at my wits end with what I can do, I make days from 4 in the morning to 9 or 10 at night myself and I'm exhausted more mentally than physically at the moment.
My little one is 2,5 years old and he's normally up around 4 or 5, to nursery at 9 till 11.30, home, lunch and trying to get him to nap and then bed at 8.
He gets a bath with lavender drops in the evening, a massage with a bit of oil and a calm environment with low lights. He's seen as delayed, on the asd spectrum although we don't know where and he's quite a cheery happy boy....... provided he's had enough sleep.
